On May 5-6, 2009, the worlds of private business, government and commercial purchasing will connect at the Mississippi Business and Procurement Opportunities Conference/Trade Show. Expected to attract hundreds of participants to the Jackson Convention Complex, this event sponsored by the Mississippi Development Authority, Mississippi Procurement Technical Assistance Program and the Mississippi Association of Governmental Purchasing and Property Agents will feature seminars/workshops, guest speakers, and a reception on the first day and a trade show on the second day.
The conference is designed to build partnerships between private business, government purchasing at all levels (federal, state, and local), defense contractors, commercial corporations and gaming properties. The conference will also focus on procurement opportunities related to the “Economic Stimulus Legislation” to revitalize the U.S. economy.
Among the invited U. S. government agencies and defense contractors are the Department of Defense (Army, Air Force, and Navy) installations, Small Business Administration, Department of Housing and Urban Development, Department of Veteran Affairs, Northrop Grumman Ship Systems, Lockheed Martin and NASA. Among the state agencies will be approximately 60 State of Mississippi purchasing offices participating as exhibitors. Commercial corporation invited include Mississippi gaming properties, Chevron, Mississippi Power Company, Entergy, etc..
